What are fire alarm systems?

Ensure 100% fire protection for your facility with VAC Security fire alarm systems.

Fire alarm systems include a set of components that are designed to identify the presence of a fire in a building and to trigger an evacuation notification system. In this way, everyone in the building is notified in a timely manner and can leave the site unharmed.

Fire alarm systems, depending on the way they are designed and the set of safety components included in the system, can trigger different evacuation signals. These can be alarm systems, ventilation and extinguishing systems, evacuation lighting, signaling to responsible officials, etc..

We install fire alarm systems according to your individual needs.

Design and installation of fire alarm systems

VAC Security guarantees you service and maintenance of fire alarm systems at a high professional level.

The construction of fire alarm systems, like any other type of process related to the installation of security systems, can vary in terms of scope and complexity. Factors such as the size of the site where the system is to be built, the type of notification and a number of other features are leading here.

The different types of fire alarm systems are designed according to the customer’s objectives, after which the most suitable components are selected and the construction process is started.

We will consider the specifics of your individual project and advise you on the right selection of components and features to take advantage of.

Types of fire detection systems

The types of fire alarm systems that we design and build are conventional and addressable and are applicable in different sized facilities.

Conventional fire alarm systems

They offer the ideal solution for fire protection in smaller buildings. Functionally, they are more limited than addressable as they identify the presence of fire but do not locate it.

In these, sensors and manual fire detectors are connected to a panel in series, with a terminal element being integrated at the end. Each line that is part of the system is a separate fire alarm zone. When the detector is triggered and/or manually activated, the panel identifies a fire in a specific zone (usually on each floor of the building), but its exact location should be ascertained after on-site verification.

This type of fire alarm system is reliable, with low investment and operating costs.

Addressable fire alarm systems

A significant advantage of addressable fire alarm systems is that they can identify a fire with its exact location, thanks to the unique number of each device in the system.

This type of installations are more expensive than conventional ones, but this is due to their many advantages. The precise and rapid identification of the fire implies a quicker and more adequate response by the responders. The system provides continuous monitoring. Fire alarm systems of this type are flexible and functional.

The automated process minimizes the occurrence of false alarms, and system reliability is guaranteed.

Fire alarm equipment

VAC Security provides complete fire alarm equipment and/or optional accessories to build a system completely tailored to your safety requirements.

Among the set of components essential for the construction and installation of a reliable fire alarm system are:

  • Fire extinguishing control panels;
  • Fire alarm sensors, also called fire detectors, they are available in several varieties – optical smoke, thermal (maximum, differential, beam, flame and/or combination). Their task is to send a signal to the fire alarm panel;
  • Manual fire detectors – applicable to conventional fire alarm systems;
  • Fire alarm sirens;
  • Other components and accessories that are part of the notification system and controlled by the panel;
  • Structural wiring for fire alarm systems – ensures communication between individual elements, should be fire resistant;
  • Rechargeable batteries and/or devices that ensure the functioning of the system in case of lack of electricity in the building.
